Consani and Lariche set the pace in opening Monza practice

+ Result: Free Practice, Monza

Robert Consani and Benjamin Lariche continued their strong form at Monza by setting the pace in opening free practice.

Under pressure to bounce back after a tough season opener at Circuit Paul Ricard, the defending champions made the perfect start to round two by going fastest aboard their Team Speedcar Audi R8.

Riccardo Pera proved one to watch early on, putting the new Ebimotors Porsche out front before another newcomer, Cameron McLeod, briefly brought the #62 Ford Mustang to the top of the times. Sacha Bottemanne then took a turn in the #3 Team Speedcar Audi before Consani struck, pulling 0.189s clear of everybody to cement the result for himself and Lariche.

Early points leaders Enrico Förderer and Cedric Fuchs were second for SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm Mercedes-AMG after Förderer bettered Bottemanne and Viny Beltramelli’s time late on. Bottemanne and Beltramelli still led the way in Pro-Am though. Team Speedcar made it three cars inside the top four with Gregory Guilvert and Paul Petit finishing fourth quickest, ahead of Edvin Hellsten and Daniel Nilsson’s Nova Racing Porsche. Jack Mitchell and Georgi Dimitrov completed the top six in the new CMR Ginetta.

Max Kronberg and Daniel Blickle led the way in Am, with their W&S Motorsport Porsche finishing a handful of places clear of Julien Ripert’s Audi and the GR Racing Sweden Supra shared by Mikael and Christoffer Brunnhagen.

Pre-Qualifying is scheduled for 12:30.
