Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport confirms its two-car GT4 Europe attack

Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport will return to the GT4 European Series this season aiming for titles after confirming an impressive driver line-up for its twin BMW M4 GT4 Evos.

The Turkish team will once again boast 2023 GT4 Europe champion Gabriele Piana aboard its number 12 car, with the Italian this year joined by rising German star Thomas Rackl.

In the number 11 entry, the experienced Yağiz Gedik continues, this time partnered by karting champion and promising Turkish talent Bati Yildirim.

Piana is one of the most recognisable names in the paddock, having starred in GT4 competitions across recent years. A two-time ADAC GT4 Germany champion, he secured the GT4 Europe title in 2023 in a Hofor Racing by Bonk Motorsport BMW and has been an outright race winner in a Borusan Otomotive Motorsport M4 in each of the last two seasons, finishing third in the Silver points last year alongside Berkay Besler.

German teenager Rackl has competed in GT4 Germany for the last two seasons becoming a podium finisher last year. Before that he enjoyed a successful karting career in Germany and will now step up to make his GT4 Europe debut. This year he is also a member of the BMW M Racing Academy scheme, which supports emerging sportscar talent. At 17, he is the youngest member of the programme.

Gedik has been a GT4 Europe regular since 2020 when he finished runner-up in the Pro-Am points in his maiden season. He has since become a regular challenger for the outright podium places, lifting silverware twice last year alongside Pedro Ebrahim.

Yildirim has marked himself out as one of Türkiye’s most promising talents with a string of star performances in karting that have helped him to two WSK Euro Series titles. He graduated to GT racing last year with selected rounds in the Porsche Carrera Cup Italy and will now make his GT4 Europe debut after joining Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport’s driver development programme.

After finishing second in the Silver Teams’ standings in 2025, Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport is out to go one better this year with both of its cars competing in the Silver category.

A team statement said: “Last season the team demonstrated a steady and consistent upward performance. With these results, Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport continued to successfully represent Türkiye on the international motorsport stage

“Following this performance, the team’s primary objective for the 2026 season is to secure both the Teams’ and Drivers’ championships in the Silver category. By bringing together engineering excellence, operational strength, strategic precision and driver performance under a unified goal, Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport aims to compete at the highest level throughout the season. With its disciplined working culture and strong technical structure, the team will continue its determined pursuit in the GT4 European Series in the 2026 season.”

The GT4 European Series season begins at Circuit Paul Ricard across the weekend of April 10-12.
