+ 44-car field sets up thrilling 2025 season finale in Spain
+ Plenty to play for in Silver battle as fight for second heats up
+ Mirage and W&S set for Pro-Am showdown
+ Dominant Am duo ready for one last round
+ Provisional entry list: Barcelona
The GT4 European Series powered by RAFA Racing Club returns to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya after a year’s absence next weekend (October 10-12), with the series’ titles set to be decided across a thrilling finale.
Two of this year’s title battles are still raging, with nothing to call between both the Pro-Am and Am contenders, who will have to fight it out among a 44-car field to secure honours.
The twin GT4 European Series races will be held on the undercard of the GT World powered by AWS, which will feature a huge field for its own seasonal showdown with a three-hour race running into the dusk on Sunday. Add in action from the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli and Lamborghini Super Trofeo, and you have an event not to be missed for supercar fans.
SILVER: PLENTY TO FIGHT FOR DESPITE SPEEDCAR’S SUCCESS
Robert Consani and Benjamin Lariche may have saved themselves the nerves of a final-round showdown by sealing the Silver title last time out at the Nürburgring, but there’s still plenty to play for elsewhere in the headline class.
Silver will again be the biggest entry and, despite the title being decided a round early, the focus now switches to the wide-open battle for the remaining honours.
Consani and Lariche have been standout this season and are deserving champions in their Team Speedcar Audi, but lately they haven’t been the crew in form. That tip goes to Berkay Besler and Gabriele Piana, who have finished on the podium in each of the last three events, plus been winners at Spa. That run has helped the Borusan Otomotiv BMW pair up to second in the points, but they face a fight to stay there.
Hadrien David and Jan Duran (pictured above) celebrated their breakthrough win in Germany, with the Matmut Évolution Toyota drivers sitting just five points behind in third. Marco Signoretti and Erik Evans have twice been winners in their Academy Motorsport Ford, but find themselves tied on points in fourth with NM Racing Team Mercedes-AMG drivers Alex Papadopulos and home hero Lluc Ibañez, who could shine at his local circuit.
McKenzie Cresswell and Josh Rattican are not out of the picture either, having been race winners and three-times pole position qualifiers in their Elite Motorsport McLaren. Also watch out for Ricardo van der Ende and Benjamin Lessennes (L’Espace Bienvenue BMW) and Gregory Guilvert/Paul Petit (Team Speedcar Audi) who will both be looking to finish the year on a high.
PRO-AM: MIRAGE AND W&S HEAD-TO-HEAD FOR HONOURS
It was all change at the top of the Pro-Am points after the Nürburgring, with Mirage Racing’s Stanislav Safronov and Aleksandr Vaintrub continuing their late-season form to displace long-term leaders Joachim Bölting and Hendrik Still from top spot.
A fourth win in a row for the Aston Martin pair has given them an eight-point lead over the W&S Motorsport Porsche, which itself scored a quad of victories earlier in the year. Such is the dominance of the top two, they have shared all but two of the class wins so far between them, setting up what could become an all-or-nothing final round.
Joakim Walde and Victor Bouveng run third after scoring four second places but are still hunting their breakthrough win. Even though they are out of reach of the title, they are the only crew that could mathematically still seal second.
Both Viny Beltramelli/Nicco Ferrarin (JSB Competition Porsche) and Alberto Naska/Stefano D’Aste (PB Racing Lotus) have also been race winners, while Cindy Gudet and Gabriele Jilkova (Matmut Évolution Toyota) could still snatch third if they can continue their current podium-challenging form.
AM: DOMINANT DUO SET FOR SHOWDOWN
Much like Pro-Am, the fight for Am honours is a two-horse race that has swung constantly between W&S Motorsport’s Max Kronberg and Daniel Blickle, and Chazel Technologie Course drivers Jean-Mathieu Leandri and Antoni de Barn.
Between them, the #30 Porsche and #317 BMW have won every race so far, with Kronberg and Blickle’s perfect weekend on home soil in Germany edging them 10 points ahead. However, on neutral ground, Leandri and De Barn cannot be discounted, having scored five race wins and four pole positions thus far.
Toyota Gazoo Racing’s father-and-son team of Mikael and Christoffer Brunnhagen will be fighting for third place, hoping to stave off the challenge of both Igor Sorokin/Keith Gatehouse (NM Racing Team Mercedes-AMG) and Philippe Thalamy/Julien Ripert (Team Speedcar Audi). An extra entry comes from sister-and-brother Reema and Ali Juffali, who will share an Elite Motorsport McLaren Artura.
The GT4 European Series powered by RAFA Racing Club weekend at Barcelona gets underway with testing on Thursday, October 9 ahead of Free Practice (10:10) and Pre-Qualifying (13:40) on Friday. Saturday has Qualifying (12:10) and Race 1 (17:30) and head of season finale on Sunday (13:20). All sessions will feature live timing on the official website, with both races streamed live on the GT World YouTube channel.
