Racing Spirit of Léman confirm strong Aston Martin Free Practice performance in Q1
No significant incidents in Q1, giving all drivers a chance to put in their best possible lap time. Merely three laps into the session, Victor Weyrich did just that in the #74 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 by setting a blistering 2'12.009. That's 0.3 seconds quicker than last year's fastest qualifying lap, and it would prove to be an unbeatable one for the rest of the field. Autosport GP LS Group Performance made a strong effort and put their #110 Alpine A110 GT4 EVO in second, followed by Belgian Maxime Potty in the #8 Xwift Racing Events Toyota Supra GT4 EVO.
Fourth overall and fastest Pro-Am goes to Saintéloc Junior Team's #42 Audi R8 LMS GT4. Autosport GP LS Group Performance scores again in Am, taking the class' pole position with the #55 Alpine from 13th on the Race 1 grid. Finally, a noteworthy 6th place in Q1 goes to one of the GT4 Scandinavia entries at Circuit Paul Ricard, thanks to Emil Skaras setting a solid lap time in the Toyota Gazoo Racing Sweden #290 Supra GT4 EVO.
Monza's best Q2-performer repeats at Circuit Paul Ricard
In the second qualifying session, everyone expected to see Aston Martin perform well once more, and those expectations were met. It's the JSB Competition #24 car who takes third overall and the Pro-Am pole position, and the #74 Racing Spirit of Léman Aston Martin who claims second.
But Q2 seems to be BMW-territory this season, as Gabriele Piana puts the #2 BMW M4 GT4 of Hofor Racing by Bonk Motorsport on pole position for Race 2. At the previous round in Monza, that proved to be the perfect foundation for a win, and the team's goal will be no different this time around.
Am pole position in Q2 goes to the #55 Alpine for the second session in a row (and three out of four this season), topping off a seriously successful morning of qualifying for Autosport GP LS Group Performance.
All eyes now on Race 1, this Saturday afternoon at 14.55 CEST, streamed live on the GTWorld YouTube Channel. Race 2 concludes the weekend of live action from Circuit Paul Ricard on Sunday at 11.35 CEST.
