AKKA ASP leads Mercedes-AMG 1-2-3 in first Barcelona practice

Jim Pla was the fastest driver in the one-hour practice session, posting a fastest time of 1m55.019s early on. Lluc Ibanez was second quickest in the #15 NM Racing Team Mercedes-AMG, lapping the track half a second shy of Pla’s fastest time. Ibanez’ time of 1m55.529 was the fastest time set by a Silver Cup entrant.

Third place went to the #2 CD Sport Mercedes-AMG at just 0.06s of the #15 Mercedes-AMG. Second fastest in Silver Cup and fourth on the road was the #8 CMR Toyota of Antoine Potty and Stephane Lémeret. The Toyota drivers are still in contention for the Silver Cup, although they need a double victory to have a chance of clinching the title.

After setting the pace in yesterday’s test session, the #17 V8 Racing Chevrolet Camaro of Thijmen Nabuurs and Jop Rappange finished fifth overall in Free Practice 1, just ahead of the guesting #222 Mirage Racing Alpine of Rodolphe Wallgren and Gael Castelli.

Hella Pagid – racing one took the top spot in the Am Cup with its #18 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4. The Aston Martin, driven by Markus Lungstrass and Henrik Lyngbye Pedersen was 16th fastest in the session. The #25 Sainteloc Racing Audi of Olivier Esteves and Cyril Saleilles was second in class, followed by the #89 AGS Events Aston Martin of Eric Herr and Nicolas Gomar.

The #33 SVC Sport Management Toyota brought out a full course yellow when Antoni Chodzen went off at turn 16, damaging the car and littering the track with gravel. After a couple of minutes the red flags were shown in order to give the marshals the opportunity to clean the track.
