Chevalier puts CD Sport Mercedes-AMG on top in second Spa practice

The Mercedes-AMG teams showed strong pace in the early stages of the second practice session at the 7 km Spa circuit. Chevalier went quickest early on with a best lap of 2m32.231s and after 20 minutes he was leading a group of four Mercedes-AMGs inside the overall top five.

The Mercedes-AMG domination early in the session didn't last as other drivers emerged on track and began putting in fast laps. Eventually it was Cem Bolukbasi in the #12 Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport BMW who went quicker than most of the Mercedes-AMG drivers. His best lap was just 0.043s shy of Chevalier. Centri Porsche Ticino driver Max Busnelli in the #718 Porsche made it a Pro-Am top three overall after 60 minutes.

Lluc Ibanez led the Silver Cup class in the #15 NM Racing Team Mercedes-AMG. The Spanish driver was fourth overall, ahead of fellow Mercedes-AMG drivers Timothé Buret in the #88 AKKA ASP car and Enzo Joulie in the #74 CD Sport entry.

The #55 Mirage Racing Aston Martin was seventh fastest in FP2, followed by the #23 United Autosports McLaren, the #26 Allied Racing Porsche and the #14 Saintéloc Racing Audi.

Fastest in the Am Cup class was the #69 Team Fullmotorsport Audi in the hands of Christophe Hamon in 20th overall. Nicolas Gomar in the #89 AGS Events Aston Martin was second again, this time followed by the #33 SVC Sport Management Toyota of Antoni Chodzen.

There were two Full Course Yellow phases during the second free practice, both the result of cars going into the gravel trap and tyre wall at the exit of turn 13. The first, short Full Course Yellow was caused by the #33 Toyota, the second by the #9 Hella Pagid - racing one Audi.

The teams will be back out tomorrow at 11:30 for Qualifying. The first one-hour race will get underway at 17:00 local time. Qualifying as well as the race will be broadcast on the GTWorld YouTube channel and the GT4 European Series website and Facebook page.
