The #66 CMR Toyota of Antoine Potty and Timothé Buret will start from pole in the first race, with the AKKA ASP Team Mercedes-AMG taking pole for the final race tomorrow evening.
In the first qualifying session NM Racing Team’s Lluc Ibanez put in a number of fast laps and kept the #15 Mercedes-AMG on provisional pole until two minutes from the end.
Just after Ibanez had returned to the pit lane, Potty put in a 2:15.034 and claimed pole position for tomorrow’s race by 0.422s. Behind Potty and Ibanez, Jop Rappange took third in the #17 V8 Racing Chevrolet, ahead of Esteban Muth (#30 SRT Mercedes-AMG) and Stéphane Lémeret (#8 CMR Toyota).
Markus Lungstrass claimed the Am Cup pole position on his return to the series with R-Motorsport. The former Pro-Am champion qualified the #18 Aston Martin in sixth overall, ahead of the #12 Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport BMW of Pro-Am pole man Cem Bölükbasi. Silver Cup points leader Theo Nouet was eighth fastest, while Pro-Am Cup points leader Jan Kasperlik qualified the #22 Allied Racing Porsche in 13th place.
In Qualifying 2 it was Jim Pla who set the pace in the #87 AKKA ASP Team Mercedes-AMG. Pla was fast, right from the start and it took a while before other drivers put in similar lap times.
Xavier Lloveras was the first to beat Pla’s time, but soon Dutchman Thijmen Nabuurs moved into first place. Nabuurs and Pla swapped positions twice, until Pla put in a 2:14.136. Nabuurs improved his previous best time, but was unable to beat Pla once more - but still secured the Silver Cup pole.
Pla and Nabuurs were the only two drivers to get into the 2:14s, with Xavier Lloveras taking third for NM Racing Team. Bastian Buus qualified the #22 Allied Racing Porsche in fourth place overall, followed by Timothé Buret (CMR).
Silver Cup points leader Valentin Hasse-Clot (AGS Events), Max Koebolt (SRT), George Gamble (R-Motorsport) and Nicolas Gomar (AGS Events) completed the top ten, with Gomar taking the Am Cup pole position.
The first GT4 European Series race at Circuit Paul Ricard is set to start at 11:15 tomorrow, with the final race of the 2020 season scheduled for 18:45 local time. Both races will be broadcasted live on the GT4 European Series website and Facebook page, as well as SRO Motorsports Group’s GT World YouTube channel.
