Ivan Jacoma in the #718 Centri Porsche Ticino Porsche will start today’s GT4 European Series race from pole position, while Bastian Buus in the #22 Allied Racing Porsche took the top spot for tomorrow’s second race at the Nürburgring.
Already showing his pace in yesterday’s practice final practice session, Ivan Jacoma clinched his maiden GT4 European Series pole position in the first qualifying session. Buus, who made his GT4 debut at Imola, then went on to make it two from two for the Porsche teams in the second qualifying session.
The Centri Porsche Ticino driver fastest lap came right before the halfway point of the session. His 2m04.591s lap was enough to secure pole for the first race of the Nürburgring weekend, set to start at 16.35.
Xavier Lloveras missed out on the overall pole by 0.059s, but it was still enough to put the #15 NM Racing Team on the front row and secure the Silver Cup pole position. A late flyer by Jan Kasperlik resulted in the #22 Allied Racing Porsche taking third place, with AGS Events’ Theo Nouet securing fourth on the grid and second in Silver with his Aston Martin.
Championship leader Bas Schouten qualified his RN Vision STS BMW in fifth place, ahead of Stéphane Lémeret in the CMR Toyota. A strong session earned Nicolas Gomar the Am-pole, with the seventh fastest time overall. Antoine Potty (CMR), Jörg Viebahn (Allied Racing) and Jop Rappange (V8 Racing) completed the overall top 10 in Qualifying 1.
The second session saw Buus take his first-ever pole in the GT4 European Series. In only his third qualifying session, Buus beat rival Valentin Hasse-Clot by just 0.071s. The young Dane was determined to take pole in his session. On his first attempt Buus missed pole by 0.005s, but one lap later he improved and put in a 2m04.010s.
Hasse-Clot earned second overall and the Silver Cup pole position, with Lluc Ibanez (NM Racing Team) and Gabriele Piana (RN Vision STS) qualifying their cars on the second row of the grid. Fifth-fastest and second in Pro-Am was Nicolaj Møller-Madsen in the Allied Racing Porsche, with Dörr Motorsport’s Phil Dörr qualifying his McLaren in sixth overall. Duncan Huisman (V8 Racing) and Timothé Buret (CMR) were seventh and eighth fastest in the second qualifying.
AGS Events driver Gilles Vannelet secured the Am pole with ninth place overall, with CMR Gael Castelli preventing SRT’s Bob Herber from making it an all-AM class on the fifth row.
