Ford Racing Junior drivers Erik Evans and Nathan Vanspringel will team up in GT4 Europe this season aboard the Academy Motorsport Ford Mustang.
American Evans and Dutchman Vanspringel are highly experienced with the Mustang S650 GT4 platform, with Evans having raced the car with Academy over the last two seasons and Vanspringel forming part of the TeamFloral entry since that squad’s debut at Spa-Francorchamps back in 2024.
Former British GT4 champion Evans enjoyed a strong season in Europe last year, helping the Academy Mustang to two race wins – at Circuit Paul Ricard and Zandvoort – with he and Marco Signoretti finishing sixth in the championship.
Vanspringel became a regular points-scorer toward the end of the season alongside Michiel Haverans, and together he and Evans are targeting a push forward.
Erik Evans says: “This is a great opportunity and one I'm fully committed to. The team knows the Mustang GT4 inside out, and working alongside Nathan, I think we have everything we need to have a strong season.”
Nathan Vanspringel says: “Joining Academy Motorsport for 2026 is a really exciting step. The team's record speaks for itself, and being part of the Ford Racing Development Driver programme alongside Erik gives us a strong foundation to build from.”
Academy Motorsport team manager Les Jones adds: “We're extremely pleased to confirm Erik and Nathan in the No. 61 car for 2026. Having two Ford Racing Development Drivers in the team is a reflection of the confidence Ford Racing has in Academy Motorsport as the right environment to develop their talent. Both drivers have real ability, and we're looking forward to giving them the platform to demonstrate that across the season.”
