Australian teenager Lachlan Evennett will make his GT4 European Series debut this year with the Speedy Motorsport Toyota team.
The 17-year-old has gained significant race experience across his short career so far, having competed in a string of categories across recent years. Last year alone he finished third in the Australian National Formula Ford Championship, was a race winner in both the Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia GR Cup and New Zealand-based GR86 Championship and also handled a Ford Mustang in the Australian Trico Trans-Am Series.
For 2026 he will add his first campaign in Europe, becoming the first driver to sign up for a full-season entry with Portuguese Toyota team Speedy Motorsport to compete in the Silver category. His team-mate will be revealed soon.
Lachlan Evennett said: “There is no doubt that 2026 will be a big year and I am really looking forward to getting into it. Exploring a different category in GT4 with the Toyota brand will be awesome and having the opportunity to race the GT4 category internationally in New Zealand and Europe alongside Australia will bring me to many circuits that I have not been to previously.
“Racing in the highly competitive GT4 European Series is an exciting opportunity to showcase my skills and race on some very well-known circuits. My focus this year will also be on Trans Am Australia, with the Garry Rogers Motorsport team. A total of 20 + race weekends will only help with developing my racing in 2026. A special thank you to all my 2025 sponsors who have come on again in 2026 to support my racing across all categories.”
Pedro Salvador, Speedy Motorsport head added: “We couldn’t be more pleased to welcome Lachlan to the Speedy Motorsport team for our presence in the GT4 European Series. It is both a great responsibility and a strong source of motivation to support Lachlan in his first season on European circuits. From our very first contact, he showed the right mindset — focused, positive and highly committed. We are looking forward to starting this new chapter together and taking on this exciting challenge."
