W&S Motorsport has already begun its planning for a return to the GT4 European Series Powered by RAFA Racing Club for the 2025 season after sealing a deal with promising Turkish driver Kuzey Citak.
The 17-year-old has agreed to make the step up from karting to join the German team for next season, with a full campaign in the GT4 European Series forming the core of the plan.
Citak lives in London and has competed in various Rotax karting championships in the UK, Italy, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates over the past three years. He has achieved several top-five results and wants to take the next step in his motorsport career on the way to becoming a professional racing driver by switching to GT4 racing.
Preparations for 2025 are already underway, and Citak is due to accompany W&S to selected events this season to familiarise himself with the team and the way it operates.
He is also a part of the W&S Motorsport Academy programme, which prepares young and amateur drivers for their entry into professional motorsport. Before the start of the season, the academy participants complete a workshop in which they are trained in key areas such as physical and mental fitness, nutrition, learning data and video analysis tools, media and management training. Performance coaching in the W&S Motorsport racing simulator is also part of the workshop. Citak will go through the Academy and be prepared for his first outings in the Porsche 718 Cayman RS CS GT4.
The W&S Motorsport team is enjoying a highly competitive season this term, with Max Kronberg and Finn Zulauf firmly in contention for the Pro-Am class championship with four races still to run.
Kuzey Citak says: “I am very happy that W&S Motorsport is giving me the opportunity to make the step into GT4 next season. I will be proud to compete in the GT4 European Series next season and gain experience on international race tracks. With the support of W&S Motorsport, I want to take the next step in my career and become a professional racing driver. I am really looking forward to next year and the new challenge!"
Daniel Schellhaas, Team Principal of W&S Motorsport, adds: “We would like to welcome Kuzey to our team. He will be joining us at the race track this season to familiarise himself with the team's work processes and prepare for his debut in the GT4 European Series. He will also be a member of our W&S Motorsport Academy and will be optimally prepared for his first GT4 season in workshops and in the racing simulator. We are looking forward to working with him and will give Kuzey the best possible support to help him quickly get to grips with the GT4 car.”
The 2025 GT4 European Series Powered by RAFA Racing Club is scheduled to begin at Circuit Paul Ricard on April 11-13. Before then, the 2024 championship still has two events to run, with Monza on September 20-22, and the season finale in Jeddah on November 28-30.
