Wimmer Werk Motorsport will make its GT4 European Series Powered by RAFA Racing Club debut this season and will field Emil Heyerdahl and Nick Maloy aboard its first Porsche 718 Cayman RS CS GT4.
The Austrian team is gearing up to run twin Porsches in the Silver class this year, with Norwegian Heyerdahl and American Maloy teaming up in the first complete entry.
Heyerdahl brings with him an impressive racing CV. He began his car racing career in Formula STCC Nordic, winning the championship on his second attempt in 2018. Since then he has achieved a fourth in class finish in the 2019 Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia, was GT3 Cup champion in his first year of the ClubSport Series and claimed the 24 Hour Series TCR class championship in 2021. He’s also been a race winner in the Nürburgring-based Langstrecken Serie and made his GT4 European Series debut in a handful of races with Mirage Racing last season.
American Maloy will be making his full-season European racing debut this year, having graduated from the Skip Barber Formula at the end of last season. He’s been gaining mileage with Wimmer Werk by contesting the GT4 Winter Series in the team’s Porsche, recording three podium finishes and a fastest lap so far.
Emil Heyerdahl says: “Heading into 2024 with a new team and a bunch of great people makes me very confident. Feels like we are already a big unit, who wants push each-other to other levels! Preparation has been laid down over the winter to ensure that we are ready to go at Paul Ricard in April.”
Nick Maloy says: “Really excited for a new season in Europe with all new drivers and tracks coming from America not knowing what to expect. I believe I’m in a really good place for this session after a test race with the team in Barcelona, I think it’s a perfect fit. My goal for this year is to win the rookie championship and my aspirations for motorsports is to one day be a manufacturer diver for a company and win the Rolex 24. Let’s go get this championship.”
Wimmer Werk said in a statement: “We are super proud and happy to announce that Emil Heyerdahl will be joining Wimmer Werk Motorsport in 2024. This incredible 21-year-old Norwegian driver will be tearing up the track in the GT4 European Series Powered by RAFA Racing Club alongside Nick Maloy. As a team, we couldn’t be more excited to welcome Emil onboard. After an exhilarating three days with him at our Get Fit camp, we are 100% confident he’s the perfect fit for our team.
“We believe Nick and Emil will make a dynamite driving duo, and we’re thrilled to kick off our first season in the GT4 European Series with two cars in the Silver class. Emil brings a strong track record of impressive results and unwavering dedication. We’re eager to support him in his journey to even more success in motorsport and in achieving his dreams. Let’s go.”
