Alpine Cup champion joins Chazel’s 2024 squad

Reigning Alpine Cup champion Lorens Lecertua will make his GT4 European Series Powered by RAFA Racing Club debut this season, joining Jean-Mathieu Leandri at Chazel Technologie Course.

The French team is gearing up for its second GT4 European Series campaign, and has recruited strongly over the winter, adding runaway Alpine Cup winner Lecertua to its squad alongside Leandri.

The team made a positive impression during its maiden GT4 Europe campaign last year, with Leandri scoring an Am class podium finish aboard its Alpine A110 GT4 Evo at Spa alongside then team-mate Jean-Paul Dominici. For this year the Alpine will wear a distinctive new white, blue and yellow colour scheme and will compete in the Pro-Am class.

Belgian driver Lecertua enjoyed a stunning 2023 season in the Alpine Cup, scoring five race wins, five pole positions and eight podium finishes from 12 outings to cruise to the title with Chazel. He will now make the step up from the Cup-spec A110 to the full GT4 car, and will be one to watch for the coming season.

Leandri helped Chazel to seventh in the Am class standings last term, while also racing an Audi in the FFSA French GT series to gain experience. He graduated to GT4 racing from the Championnat de France FFSA Tourism series.

With Leandri and Lecertua, plus a year’s experience of competing in the GT4 European Series Powered by RAFA Racing Club, Chazel is in a strong position for the coming campaign. The team will also run Lecertua alongside Mateo Herrero for this year’s FFSA French GT Championship.
