AKKA-ASP will field two cars in each class, with its entry headlined by the return of Jean-Luc Beaubelique and Jim Pla, who finished second in the Pro-Am standings last season. With three podium finishes and two wins (plus Pla scoring more fastest race laps than any other driver across the campaign, with four) the duo will undoubtedly be ones to watch this season.
The second Pro-Am car will be shared by Eric Debard and Simon Gachet, who will undertake a twin programme in both the French and European championships. Debard steps up to the GT4 European Series for the first time, having been a regular in the French series. Gachet brings huge experience, with the 28-year-old boasting a Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup title from 2020.
For the Am class entries, the father-and-son duo of Mauro and Benjamin Ricci will handle AKKA’s first Mercedes-AMG. The pair competed in the category last year and celebrated two podium finishes on their way to fifth in the Am championship.
The team’s fourth and final entry will be raced by Christophe Bourret and Pascal Gibon, who join the GT4 European Series full-time after a trial outing last year. The pair made a one-off entry in the season finale at Barcelona last year, but will now extend their commitment to cover the entire 2022 campaign. Both have extensive experience of racing GT4 machinery in the French GT Championship.
