The Hella Pagid Racing One team will double its efforts in this year’s GT4 European Series, expanding to field four Aston Martin Vantages across three different classes this season.
The German team – based in Andernach – ran a single Vantage GT4 alongside an Audi R8 LMS in a split programme last term, which marked Racing One’s First GT4 European Series outing for two years.
For its second-straight campaign, the team has swapped out its Audi in favour of an all-Aston attack, with entries in the Silver Cup, Pro-Am and Am categories.
Its headline entry comes in the Silver Cup where it will field the promising young duo of American Kenton Koch and Dutchman Thijmen Nabuurs. Koch (28) has vast experience of racing in America, being a double Skip Barber and Mazda MX-5 champion. He has also been a champion in racing prototypes, and finished second in last year’s Pirelli GT4 America SprintX points.
Nabuurs (25) returns for a third full GT4 European Series campaign, having enjoyed a strong 2021 season in helping the V8 Racing team’s Camaro to third in the Silver Cup last term.
“With this fantastic driver pairing, we will definitely be fighting for the title this year,” said Racing One team boss Martin Kohlhaas. “In the Silver Cup, our chances of landing on the podium are certainly not bad.”
In Pro-Am, Racing One’s Aston will be shared by Christian Gisy and Ralf Kelleners, who shared the team’s Audi last season. To help their switch, the pair have conducted a total of 15 test days to get to grips with the Vantage GT4.
The team will also have two cars in the Am category, with Henrik L. Pedersen and Markus Lungstrass returning to the fold under the Team Spirit Racing banner. They have completed a winter test programme in Spain and Portugal as preparation for this season.
Lastly, two younger members of the Gisy family will be making their GT4 European Series debut this season, with Moritz (24) and Vincent (21) set to share the team’s fourth car. Both were racing novices last season, but gained experience across both the German-based Gran Turismo Cup and GT Winter Series under the guidance of their driving coach Kelleners.
