R-Motorsport joins GT4 European Series grid at Circuit Paul Ricard

The Swiss racing squad planned a full-season entry for the GT4 European Series this season, but ultimately paused its racing programmes as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. At Circuit Paul Ricard, the team will make its long-awaited first appearance in the series.

R-Motorsport junior driver Seb Perez and George Gamble, who were scheduled to compete in all six rounds this season, will be behind the wheel of the #762 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 and the two British drivers are joined by 2018 GT4 European Series Pro-Am champion Markus Lungstrass and Denmark's Henrik Lyngbye Pedersen in the #18 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4.

"R-Motorsport will run two Aston Martin Vantage GT4 in the final event of the GT4 European Series at Paul Ricard. Although we intended not to race due to the Covid-19 pandemic this year we decided to support the entry of Seb Perez and George Gamble as well as the one of Henrik Lyngbye Pedersen and Markus Lungstrass," said R-Motorsport's Team Principal, Dr. Florian Kamelger.

"[It was] on their request as a one-off in preparation to their 2021 GT4 campaign. Knowing that SRO Motorsports Group run their events according to a strict Covid-19 safety protocol made our decision easier," added Kamelger.

Perez and Gamble will compete in the Silver Cup category at Paul Ricard, with Pedersen and Lungstrass running in the Am Cup next weekend.

The full entry for the 2020 GT4 European Series season final will be announced soon. Track action at the French circuit will begin on Thursday with two pre-event test sessions. The two official practice sessions and qualifying will take place on Friday, with the final two races of the season on Saturday, November 14th.
