Following a very successful season in the FFSA GT - GT4 France series, in which AGS Events won the drivers’ and teams’ title in the AM category, the French squad will now also compete on the international GT4 stage.
The 2019 FFSA GT and Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe Am champion, Nicolas Gomar, will share his Aston Martin with former FIA GT3 and FFSA GT GT4 champion Gilles Vannelet. Gomar and Vannelet will compete in the Am category of the series.
Youngsters Valentin Hasse-Clot and Théo Nouet will race the team’s second Vantage in the Silver Cup. Hasse-Clot is pulling double duty this season, as the 24-year-old French driver will combine his programme for AGS Events in the GT4 European Series with a programme in the GT World Challenge Europe.
“The team has announced its ambitions by taking possession of four Aston Martin Vantage GT4s. They are passionate and already have an impressive track record. Taking up the challenge alongside them is something very exciting! My team-mate Théo is a talented and very endearing young driver who is starting out in GT,” said Hasse-Clot, who already raced in selected races in the ADAC GT Masters, British GT Championship and the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup.
“The team has invested a lot to ensure that this programme is run under the best possible conditions. To compete for the title in the first year would be a fair reward for the efforts made. That's our objective and we'll work hard to live up to our ambitions,” added Hasse-Clot.
Nouet, who raced an Audi in the French championship in 2019, echoes his teammates comments.
"The team is professional, as evidenced by the fact that Aston Martin Racing has put its trust in them this year. I feel that everything will be done to ensure a great season and to win the championship,” said Nouet.
“Teaming up with Valentin Hasse-Clot is also a guarantee of success in my progression, because the choice of my team-mate was essential for me. The objective is clear this year, to win the European GT4 championship.”
“The objective of AGS Events' participation in Europe is quite simple; we want to compete at the front and for the title, regardless of the championship or the category in which we are going,” commented team boss Gomar.
At the moment AGS Events is the only team to run the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 in the GT4 European Series. R-Motorsport's entry has been withdrawn due to circumstances arising from the coronavirus pandemic and Martin Racing Team, which was set to make its debut this season, has put its plans on hold.
The GT4 European Series kicks off at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola in just over two weeks from now.
