Wimmer Werk has completed its driver line-up for its inaugural season in the GT4 European Series Powered by RAFA Racing Club by adding Ivan Ekelchik and Nicolaj Møller Madsen to its crew.
The Vienna-based team will run two new Porsche 718 Cayman RS CS GT4s in the Silver Cup category this year, and had already confirmed Emil Heyerdahl and Nick Maloy as its first pairing. The team now completes its plans with Ekelchik and the experienced Møller Madsen in the second car.
Ekelchik started his GT racing career after switching from karting in 2023. He contested his first season of GT4 European Series with Sorg Rennsport, scoring one podium finish, while also competing in the German GT4 Championship to gain mileage with Wimmer Werk. He also contested the recent GT4 Winter Series with the Austrian team, scoring three Pro-Am wins and eight podium finishes on his way to second in the class points.
Danish ace Møller Madsen boats a huge racing CV, including class wins in the Bathurst 12 Hours, a class podium in the Nürburgring 24 Hours and second place in the 2016 Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Sprint Cup. He has raced regularly in European GT4 since 2016 when he finished third in the Pro-Am standings. He later won the championship outright in a Phoenix Racing Audi in 2018 as well as finishing third in Pro-Am in 2020 with Allied-Racing.
Wimmer Werk’s campaign in the GT4 Winter Series means it is already well up to speed with its drivers, all four of which are different nationalities, making Wimmer Werk’s line-up one of the most international in the field.
Ivan Ekelchik says: “I'm looking forward to the start of the GT4 European Series Powered by RAFA Racing Club season! I’m very happy and proud to share the car with Nicolaj Møller Madsen during this season. It's a big challenge for the team and for me personally. Our goal is clear – fight for the highest places every race and we are ready to put in everything to make it happen!”
Nicolaj Møller Madsen says: “I am so happy to be back in the GT4 European Series for a full season. I started my GT career back in 2016 with GT4 European and will now enter my ninth season in GT4. To be racing with a professional team like Wimmer Werk is a pleasure, and gives me a lot of confidence that we can reach some top results this year. We want to win races, and be in the pack fighting for the overall championship, and I will also be coaching our sister car and taking care of the two young talents driving in Car #92.”
Wimmer Werk said in a statement: “Having four drivers, each with the capability to clinch the top spot, is a significant asset for our team. By collaborating effectively, we aim to leverage this advantage to maintain peak performance throughout the competition.”
