Elite Motorsport with Entire Race Engineering shines in Barcelona Pre-Qualifying!
  • Rattican/Emson and Mitchell/Denning score an impressive McLaren double-header!

  • V8 Racing Chevrolet Camaro thunders to third quickest

  • Silver Cup contenders separated by mere tenths of a second

In the first 15 minutes of Pre-Qualifying, both Team Speedcar crews had a blast out on Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Jim Pla in the #83 car and Robert Consani in the #3 bagged a couple of quickest laps each, until Michael Schrey made what looked like a championship statement by taking fastest overall from the Audis to put his #2 BMW on top of the board.

A little while later, the #23 Overdrive Racing Porsche went fastest overall to make it an all-German top 4, followed by two Alpine cars: the #110 Autosport GP LS Group Performance A110 GT4 EVO and the #35 Code Racing Development sibling.

The tables then started to provide some highly entertaining developments, when at the halfway point both of the Elite Motorsport with Entire Race Engineering McLaren Artura GT4 cars occupied the first two spots! That was a well-deserved performance already for Rattican/Emson (#77) and Mitchell/Denning (#78), and shows just how competitive all teams in the GT4 European Series Powered by RAFA Racing Club really are. Another example of that broad field was the midway P3 for the #17 V8 Racing Chevrolet Camaro, featuring a new line-up in Barcelona with Lars Zaenen filling in for Kenny Herremans alongside Dante Rappange.

Against all expectations, that never seen before ranking remained unchanged until the chequered flag was waved over Pre-Qualifying, wrapping up a very interesting session. Meanwhile, further down the field, the three major Silver Cup title contenders had been posting very comparable lap times throughout the session. The #2 Hofor Racing by Bonk Motorsport (Piana/Schrey) finished P8 overall, the #3 Team Speedcar Audi (Lariche/Consani) managed 11th place, and the #12 Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport BMW (Besler/Edgar) posted 17th overall. But more importantly: those three lap times all stayed within 0.4 seconds from each other, promising a closer than ever battle for the championship when the action in Barcelona resumes on Saturday.

That's when the GT4 European Series Powered by RAFA Racing Club will truly head into money time, as Qualifying goes green at 11.25 CEST. Race 1 opens the proper racing action at 16.50 CEST on Saturday afternoon, and Race 2 at Barcelona concludes the season on Sunday, starting at 11.20 CEST.

Both qualifying and the races will be streamed live in English, French and German via the GT4 European Series website and the GTWorld YouTube channel.
