First Free Practice Session at Misano shows strong form for Mercedes-AMG
  • #15 NM Racing Team Mercedes-AMG leads all-German top 5

  • fastest Pro-Am also for Mercedes-AMG (#20 EastSide Motorsport Bulatov/Mayer)

  • Am Cup led by #10 AVR-Avvatar Porsche (Varutti/Piguet) and 8th quickest overall

During the first half hour of Free Practice 1, which was only very briefly interrupted for an oil spill clean-up, various teams and brands shuffled the top 3 lap times between them. For a good length of time, that saw the #17 V8 Racing Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R (Herremans/Rappange) running in the top 5, showing some of their quickest pace this season.

As the session passed the halfway mark, the #15 NM Racing Team Mercedes-AMG had already put a strong 1'41.343 on the board, and that would remain the quickest lap of the session right until the end.

The #3 Team Speedcar Audi R8 LMS GT4 (Lariche/Consani) was second quickest at that point, and that position as well would prove final until the chequered flag. That left just the final spot in the top 3 up for grabs, which also seemed a given for the #20 EastSide Motorsport Mercedes-AMG. However, a strong push in the final stages by the #22 Allied-Racing Porsche (Hartvig/Schaap) saw the leading Pro-Am Mercedes-AMG drop to fourth overall.

Despite some strong British efforts by the #5 Mirage Racing Aston Martin (Day/Del Sarte) and the #48 GPA Racing Vantage AMR GT4 (Voisin/Heyerdahl), the top 5 would eventually become entirely German when the #12 Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport BMW M4 GT4 (Edgar/Besler) took fifth overall. Both Aston Martin entries finally claimed 6th and 7th, just before the Am championship leading #10 AVR-Avvatar Porsche (Varutti/Piguet) in 8th overall.
