With the final official test session on Thursday and this morning’s first free practice session in wet or – at best – damp conditions, the teams and drivers were happy with the much drier conditions for the second free practice session. With the weather forecast announcing warmer conditions on Saturday and Sunday, these 60 minutes proved to be very useful in finding a dry-weather set-up.
Or almost 60 minutes, because the session was red-flagged a couple of minutes before the scheduled end of the session, due to debris on track. Just before that, Benjamin Lariche had put the #3 Team Speedcar Audi on top of the timesheets, improving by almost a second on his previous best. His 1’55.567 was also over half a second quicker than the best time of the #11 Borusan BMW. The #7 Mirage Racing by MB Performance Aston Martin made it three Silver cars in the top 3 overall.
Best of the Pro-Am cars was the #36 Code Racing Development Alpine, finishing in fourth overall. The standout performance in the Am-category came from another Team Speedcar Audi, with Fabien Boeri and Hugo Roch not only claiming the top spot in class but finishing in seventh overall as well.
With both free practice sessions now done and dusted, the focus goes to Saturday’s qualifying. Between 11.10 and 12.00 CEST, the starting grids for both races will be determined, the first of which will start at 16.50. All of Saturday’s action will be streamed on our Facebook page and the GTWorld YouTube channel.
