Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport has been a mainstay of the GT4 European Series for many years, often running a range of home-grown Turkish drivers aboard its BMWs. That will be no different this year, with three of its four drivers hailing from the team’s homeland.
Jason Tahincioglu will make his GT4 European Series debut this year alongside series returnee Yagiz Gedik in the yet to be categorised #11 BMW M4, while British racer Burns will also step up to European competition for the first time alongside Berkay Besler in the Silver Cup #12.
Tahincioglu has a background in single-seater racing, and competed in the GP2 Series in both 2006 and 2007. Gedik returns for his third GT4 European Series campaign, having been the Pro-Am championship runner-up in 2020.
Besler has been a regular in GT racing in both the GT4 European Series and Fanatec GT world Challenge Europe powered by AWS. He’s also been a multiple race winner in single-make Porsche racing in the Middle East.
Burns steps up to the European stage having been part of the dominant Century Motorsport BMW crew that lifted last year’s British GT4 championship title. He will combine his European programme with attempting to defend his British GT title with Century this year.
Burns said: “I’m really excited to be combining a return to the British GT Championship with a first season in European racing this year. It’s set to be the busiest season of my career so far and I want to maximise every opportunity across the two championships. Thank you to everyone who made this opportunity to race in the GT4 European Series possible. It’s going to be a great new challenge for me, racing against a very competitive field on some new circuits for me. I can’t wait to get started at Imola.”
