NM Motorsport to field a trio of Mercedes-AMGs

Nil Montserrat’s team will increase its paddock presence to three AMGs this year, with an entry into each of the Silver Cup, Pro-Am and Am categories.

NM’s Silver Cup entry will be shared by Spaniard Lluc Ibañez and Frenchman Enzo Joulie. Ibañez has been a regular competitor within the GT4 European Series since 2019, and last season finished fourth in the Silver Cup standings. Joulie is gearing up for his second GT4 European Series campaign, having raced with the CD Sport team last year.

Ibañez said: “I'm very happy to stay another year with NM and I'm very motivated to be with Enzo on the team this year, we will give our best together to fight for the championship!”

Joulie said: “I'm very happy to join NM Racing and excited to drive with my good friend Lluc. We are very motivated and can't wait to start the season!”

In Pro-Am Filip Vava returns for a second year with the NM team and will share with Czech racer Jakub Knoll, who is preparing for his first full GT4 European Series campaign, having contested a part season with the SRT team last year.

Vava said: “I'm excited to start this season, as now I have one year of experience in GT4 where I showed my progress. However, this year I want to show my full potential, and always ensure that Jakub and I are consistently fighting for top Results in the Pro-Am Championship.”

Knoll said: “I am very excited to join NM Racing for the 2022 GT4 European Series season. We had a positive pre-season testing programme together and I hope we will be able to build on that during the season. I am very impressed by the team and my new teammate Filip Vava. This is going to be my first full season in GT4, but I believe I will be able to use my experience from the different racing series.”

In the Am division, Alexander Vaintrub and Stas Safronov will share the third Mercedes-AMG. Both drivers are new to the GT4 European Series.

A statement from the pair said: “It is a great honour and a new step in our racing careers to join the GT4 European Series with NM Racing. We are looking forward to taking part in this great tournament with 100% commitment.”
