V8 Racing Chevrolet tops Barcelona Thursday test session

The #17 V8 Racing Chevrolet of Thijmen Nabuurs and Jop Rappange ultimately finished the session in first place, with Nabuurs setting the fastest time of 1m55.238s.

Fastest in the Pro-Am Cup was the #34 Selleslagh Racing Team Mercedes-AMG of Luca Bosco and Maxime Soulet (1m55.441s), while Christophe Bourret and Pascal Gibon in the #53 AKKA ASP Mercedes-AMG left a strong impression by taking fourth on the road and setting the pace in the Am Cup in their maiden GT4 European Series session.

Silver Cup title contenders Charlie Fagg and Bailey Voisin in the #23 United Autosports McLaren were sixth in class and 11th overall, while the #8 CMR Toyota of Stephane Lemeret and Antoine Potty finished the day in 27th place and 14th in class.  Fifteen cars ended the test session within one second. The test session was red-flagged twice to recover cars. The #63 Arkadia Racing Alpine brought out the first red flag, while a coming together between the #33 SVC Sport Management Toyota and the #88 AKKA ASP Mercedes-AMG brought out the second one. The #63 Alpine was also the cause of a full course yellow phase late in the session.

While the GT4 European Series races at the Spanish venue for the first time ever, the track is not new to all teams and drivers competing here this weekend. In 2017 and 2018,  the French GT championship visited the track. Jim Pla scored a race win in 2017, while Fabien Michal and Gregory Guilvert were on the top step of the podium in 2018.

The #87 AKKA ASP Mercedes-AMG that Pla shares with Jean-Luc Beaubelique was fastest for most of the session this afternoon, but eventually ended the session in third place overall, second in the Pro-Am Cup. The #42 Saintéloc Racing Audi of Guilvert and Michal did not take part in today’s test session.

Two more cars are set to race this weekend with Mirage Racing adding another Alpine for Rodolphe Wallgren and 2020 Spa-Francorchamps race winner Gael Castelli. AGS Events will run four Aston Martins, with the addition of the #79 entry for Milane Petelet and Romain Leroux. This brings the total of cars entered for the final round of the season to 43.

Vincent Gisy joins his father Christian in the #9 Hella Pagid – racing one Audi. As a result, the car will compete in the Am Cup this weekend. Other newcomers are Cyril Saileilles and Olivier Esteves in the #25 Sainteloc Racing Audi, while Hugo Roch joins Hugo Condé in the #45 AGS Events Aston Martin. Pierre-Laurent Figuiere and Thomas Martinez will drive the #63 Arkadia Racing Alpine this weekend.

The updated entry list can be found here.
