In his final lap of the opening session Bowers posted a 2m05.180s lap in the #32 United Autosports McLaren he shares with Dean Macdonald. Bowers was 0.268s faster than the #13 Team Zakspeed Mercedes-AMG and another 0.071s faster than the #22 Allied Racing Porsche. This resulted in three Silver Cup cars topping the overall classification.

Jan Marschalkowski, who shares the #13 Team Zakspeed Mercedes-AMG with 2020 GT4 European Series Silver Cup champion Theo Nouet, lapped the 5.137km Nürburgring in 2m05.448 early in the session and only Nicolaj Møller-Madsen managed to come close to that time. The two remained on top of the timing screens right until the very end of the session, but ultimately it was Gus Bowers who moved into the top spot.

Fourth overall went to the Pro-Am Cup-leading #42 Saintéloc Racing Audi of Fabien Michal and Gregory Guilvert. Guilvert’s fastest lap of 2m05.684 was 0.052s quicker than the fastest lap of the #87 AKKA ASP Mercedes, set by Jim Pla. Sixth overall went to the #23 United Autosports McLaren, followed by the #15 NM Racing Team Mercedes-AMG and the #74 CD Sport Mercedes-AMG in eighth place.

Third in the Pro-Am Cup was the #718 Centri Porsche Ticino car finishing 11th overall, while Markus Lungstrass put the #18 Hella Pagid - racing one Aston Martin that he shares with Henrik Lyngbye Pedersen on top in the Am Cup and in 12th overall. The #69 Team Fullmotorsport Audi was second in class, with the #3 CMR Toyota completing the Am Cup top three.

There was a brief full course yellow during the session, after the #45 AGS Events Aston Martin stopped at the final corner with mechanical issues. The #77 Team Fullmotorsport Audi brought out local yellows after contact with another competitor, but as soon as the car had rejoined the track went green all the way to the end of the session.
