CMR Alpine fastest in GT4 European Series testing at Spa

Loris Cabirou was the fastest driver of the day thanks to a 2m31.387s lap in the first of the two test sessions that ended just before noon. The CMR Alpine was one of just four cars dipping into the 2m31s.

Second-fastest today was the #55 Mirage Racing Aston Martin, with Tom Canning putting in in a lap of 2m31.614s. The #34 Selleslagh Racing Team Mercedes-AMG was third with Maxime Soulet registering the fastest lap of the afternoon session - a 2m31.803s.

For Soulet it wasn’t the first time he put a GT4 car in first place. Back in July 2007 the former Bentley works driver won the first GT4 European Cup race held at Spa in a GPR Racing entered Porsche Cayman.

Silver Cup points leaders Antoine Potty and Stephane Lémeret were 22nd fastest overall in the morning session and 11th quickest in the afternoon session, while Pro-Am leaders Fabien Michal and Gregory Guilvert didn’t take part in the test. Full results of the two test sessions can be found here.

A total of 40 cars are set to run this weekend, following the withdrawal of the #63 PROsport Racing Aston Martin that was set to be shared by Nico Verdonck and Rodrigue Gillion this weekend. The other guest entries are still scheduled to race, with the #72 Optimum Motorsport McLaren of Lars Dahmann and Charlie Hollings already turning laps today.

Official track activity will kick off on Thursday with two practice sessions on the 7 km Spa circuit. Free Practice 1 is set to get underway at 13:10 local time. The second session is scheduled for 19:35.
