At 9:00 CET the track went green for 43 cars entered in this weekend’s opening round of the championship and one additional Aston Martin. The #87 AKKA ASP Mercedes-AMG of Jim Pla and Jean-Luc Beaubelique was the fastest, lapping the 5.8 km track in 1m56.749s.
The fastest time of the #87 Mercedes-AMG was a full second quicker than the fastest time set by the #911 Centri Porsche Ticino entry of Christian de Kant and Antonio Spavone. The #36 Arkadia Racing Alpine A110 GT4 of Antoine Leclerc and Stephan Guerin finished third.
The session was briefly stopped by a red flag early on after one of the cars lost a wing and was halted again when another competitor stopped on track with just a couple of minutes left. The session was not restarted.
A late withdrawal of the #79 AGS Events Aston Martin means there will be 46 cars set to compete this weekend. The cars will be back out again tomorrow for two free practice sessions. The first of the two one-hour sessions will start at 11:05 and the second at 14:20. Qualifying will take place on Saturday morning at 11:40 and will be streamed live, as are the races on Saturday (17:25) and Sunday (13:10).
